Paul and Allison's Marin Headlands ride report...

Allison and I had a great little ride up in the Marin Headlands over the weekend. It was super fun visiting the old roads we used to ride when we were living in San Francisco. We rode from our hotel in downtown along the Embarcadero, over the Golden Gate bridge, and looped through the climbs over the Headlands.

The first climb was gorgous! The sun was shining and we had amazing views of the bay, the bridge, and the ocean. Unfortunately, we hit the halfway point and were met with a sign saying that the road was closed! It would have been nice to get to the top but we did meet a few nice riders there who directed us to an alternate route down to the beach and more great views.

Our loop completed through the famous tunnel and back across the bridge toward home.

Once back in the city, we bumped into a rider that we'd met earlier in the day at the "road closed" signs. As it turns out, he's the manager of the Mel's Diner near the Moscone center and invited us to lunch at his restraunt. What luck! He then proceeded to lead us on an alley cat ride through North Beach and China town which we never would have attempted on our own. It was super fun and we arrived safely at the restraunt for a great lunch with our new friend. Thanks Jay! Look us up whenever you're in the Sacramento area and we'll take you on some of our local climbs.

Thanks for reading,
